Who we are

Bitterballen (speelbitterballen.com and app.speelbitterballen.com) is made by TechTulp, an eenmanszaak registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK 93688768, VAT NL005036089B74), based in Breda, the Netherlands. Contact: [email protected].

The service

Bitterballen is a collection of games for learning Dutch. All of level A1 is free to play, without an account. Bitterballen Plus, a paid subscription, unlocks the levels from A2 upwards and the features listed on our pricing section at the time you buy.

We keep improving the games and the content, so lessons, games and features may change. We do our best to keep the service available, but we cannot promise it will always be free of errors or interruptions.

Orders and payment

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries about billing and handles returns. Prices are shown in euros and include VAT where it applies.

Subscriptions, trials and cancelling

A Plus subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly) at the price shown when you bought it, until you cancel. A free trial turns into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then.

You can cancel at any time, from the link in your Paddle receipt or by emailing us. After cancelling you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again. A Founding member purchase is a one-off payment for lifetime access to Plus for as long as Bitterballen is offered.

If we ever change the price of a subscription, we tell you at least 30 days in advance, and the new price only applies from your next renewal. You can cancel before it takes effect.

Refunds

You can get your money back within 14 days of your first purchase, no questions asked. See the refund policy for how.

Fair use

Your Plus access is personal. Please don’t share your account, copy or resell our content, or try to break or overload the service. The games, art, audio and texts belong to us or our licensors; you may use them for your own learning.

Liability

Bitterballen helps you learn Dutch, but we cannot guarantee a particular result, such as passing an exam. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under Dutch or EU law.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Dutch law. If something goes wrong, please email us first; we want to solve it. If we can’t, the competent Dutch court decides, unless the law gives you the right to go to the court where you live.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we tell you in the app or by email before the change applies.
